A New Book Contract

ContractI’m delighted-excited to announce that my verse novel ‘Bully on the Bus’ has been contracted by UQP.

‘Bully on the Bus’ is one of those stories that takes a piece of your heart in the writing. It’s also been ‘a number of years’ in progress (a long time!) and benefitted from many in the supportive kidlit community, for which I say a huge and heartfelt thank-you.

I confess, I shed a tear when I heard that it had been accepted; such immensely satisfying news. I may also have whooped and hollered, some… but since you weren’t there, you’ll never know. 😉

I’m in awe that my little story has found such a wonderful home. Mayhaps one day soon it will find a home with you, too.

  1. Oh Kat, this is sensationally fantastic news!! I am sooooo happy for you. UQP are one of my fave publishing houses. Bully has found a great home there. I review for them too so perhaps one day a sparkly new verse novel will find it’s way to my desk. I would be honored to feature your work. Have I mentioned how pleased I am for you?! 😀

    • Thanks, Sandy. Verse novels are exquisite. I don’t know that they really are bound by age groups, just because they’re verse novels. We love them. That said I initially wrote it as a shared reading experience to empower lower primary children – the little ones who get targeted by bullies and don’t know how to tell – but it has grown and developed since then, so I’ll have to get back to you on that one! #trickyQ
